Team Leader (Oman)

Dr Salim Al Salmi
Associate Dean for Health Information Management
Oman College of Health Sciences

For the last 28 years, Dr Salim has been witnessing the development of the health informatics and information management in Oman. He worked as the director of the health information management department at the Royal Hospital, Dean of Oman Health Information Management Institute. Currently he is the associate dean for health information management program in Oman College of Health Sciences. He is also the health information management adviser for the Ministry of Health Oman.

Dr Salim is holding a degree in Health Information Management from USA, master in Health Informatics from UK, PG certificate in medical education from UK and PhD in health informatics and information management from UK. He is registered health information technician by AHIMA. He is interested in the electronic health record, electronic clinical documentation and coding standards, and information privacy policy and practice. He has been actively involved in the development of the electronic health record. He is the leader for the development of the health information management education and practice in Oman.

Mr. Hussein AlBishi

Hussein is a Certified Health Information Manager (CHIM) graduated from Curtin University of Technology in Australia. He has 28 years of experience in Health Information Management (HIM), Clinical Coding and Case-mix Management. Currently, Hussein serves as a senior consultant in the Vision Realization Office (VRO) at the Ministry of Health for Clinical Coding and HIM. He also serves as a consultant to the General Director of the Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI) for HIM and Coding standards. He is working with Healthcare Financing Team overseeing the HIM, Coding, Costing projects. Shifting to Activity Based Funding/Management (ABF/M) funding model is a main objective of the Saudi 2020 National Transformation Program (NTP), which is aligned with the Saudi 2030 Vision. The ultimate goal is reforming healthcare to be of Value-Based Healthcare (VBHC). Hussein is the founder and the president of the Saudi Health Information Management Associates (SHIMA).

Dr Raniya Al Kiyumi
Assistant Professor, Health Information Management Program
Oman College of Health Sciences

Raniya Al Kiyumi is a professional and dedicated individual with 18 years of experience as an acting dean, a lecturer, a health information department manager and medical records officer in the Ministry of Health’s institutions.

Al Kiyumi is a qualified Health Information Management professional with PhD from Queensland University of Technology, Australia. Dr Raniya’s research explores the status of Health Information Management in Oman.

She is an associate member of The International Federation of Health Information Management Associations (IFHIMA) and a global member of The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

Dr Raniya’s research interests include health information management, legal and ethical aspects of health information, electronic health records, clinical classification, and workforce development.

Dr Haya Al Khatlan
Assistant Professor, Health Information Management Program
The Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET)

Dr Haya has more than 25 years of academic experience. She is holding a B.Sc. in Health Informatics and Information Management from Kuwait University and MS in Health Information Management/Health Information Systems from the University of Pittsburgh, USA. Dr Haya completed her PhD in Health Information System from the USA in 2010.

Dr Haya was a chairperson for Medical Records Department at the School of Health Sciences for 4 years and work with the curriculum committee for the accreditation. She is an active member in many national and international associations such as the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), the International Federation of Health Information Management Association (IFHIMA), and Kuwait Health Informatics and Information Management Association.

Ms. Fatima Al Blooshi
Strategy and Performance Management Director
Al Ain Hospital

Fatima Abdulla Al Blooshi is the Strategy and Performance Management Director at Al Ain Hospital in UAE, graduated with excellence and honour from the Health Information Management Program at the Higher College of Technology holding a Bachelor of Health Information Management and an MQM degree from the University of Wollongong.

She has a total of 14 years’ experience in the HIM, Operations, and Strategy Management fields. She was instrumental in the transition from a paper based medical record to the current electronic medical record in her facility. She is also an active member in different UAE based committees for Health Information Management like chairing the HIM club under Emirates Medical Association and being a member at the Global Healthcare Workforce Council. Fatima has participated as a speaker at different conferences like HIM Congress- Abu Dhabi for 6 rounds and IFHIMA Congress in Japan.

Mr. Ahmed Alhatlan
Director of Health Information Management and Patient Affairs
Ministry of Interior

Ahmed Alhatlan is the director of Health Information Management (HIM) and Patient affairs division at Ministry of Interior. He is responsible for ensuring smooth service delivery to customers with art of technology. Ahmed believes that HIM is the cornerstone of any health organization and it can shape the future of health care systems. Ahmed has been working as HIM professional since 2002 he oversees various activities including Clinical Documentation Projects, HIS implementation and improvement, and many other activities.

Ahmed is a strategic planner for hospital operation and automation where he helps to improve the costumer's journey and increase service delivery satisfaction.

Ahmed is the deputy and vice president of Saudi Health Information Management Association. He is a member of National Health Information Management Committee which sets the national health Information standards and regulation.

Mr. Alhatlan is an expert ICD-10-AM trainer and policy developer in addition to his expertise in national and international hospital accreditation activities. Ahmed is a Certified Health Information Manager CHIM graduated from Curtin University, Australia.
